Driveway - Day 3

On the way to work this morning, my fantastic bestie, whom picked me up to take me to work, drove past the house to check out the progress of the driveway (and to check out her own house just across the road). They had the sand down and were starting to unpack the pavers.

One thing I noticed on Tuesday once they had poured the cement is that they put down a foundation for our bricked mailbox. I was thinking that it was too close to the house. It was only a metre or so away from the front pillar whereas the neighbours's mailboxes are at least a metre closer to the kerb.  I asked J to give our SS a call and ask him if it was correct. He said it was. Interesting....

Later in the day when J went past, Outback had started to brick the mailbox. J asked them if it was in the correct position, and upon measuring it, realised they were one metre out from where it should be. As it happens, I am not as silly as I may look :)

J picked me up from work and we took our usual drive past the house to find our driveway and portico completed. I was concerned as to how it would look once completed, but I am pleasantly surprised.

Here are some photos.

Driveway - Day 2

Yesterday when Outback Landscaping formed up the driveway they didn't take it out to the outer edge of the garage. However, this morning they have corrected it.  They told us that they would be pouring the concrete today and commencing the paving tomorrow.

Today I received a text from one of our neighbours (they moved in yesterday) telling me that the kitchen and laundry glass splashback were being installed.  She also sent a photo of the driveway after it had been concreted.  Needless to say, all I wanted to do was leave work and rush there to check things out.

Our gas meter was installed today.

Week 16 ....... Driveway - Day 1

We have reached week 16 and I am amazed at how close we are now.  Our SS has given us a settlement date of 10th October 2014. I am super excited now.

Today Outback Landscaping was on site nice and early forming up our driveway to be poured tomorrow.

We are having Outback do a paved pathway down the side of our house, as well as some stairs at the laundry door. This work should be done by Saturday.

At the last minute we have decided to widen our driveway so that it is the full width all the way to the kerb. I think it will be much more practical for our family in the coming years with the number orfcars that we are inevitably going to have.

This week our SS has scheduled the driveway, site clean, house clean, window service and carpet install.

The house clean was done today. Our main floor tiles are still covered with protective black plastic as the grouting has only just been finished but the rest of the house is relatively clean.

I am looking forward to the end of the week!

Main floor tiling

What a surprise to see our tiling has started. J & I went past on the way to work this morning to find the tilers working away. They had actually commenced yesterday but I didn't get a chance to go by in the afternoon like I normally do.

When we went back in the afternoon, they had completed the living and dining area and had moved into the kitchen.  The tiler says he will have it finished tomorrow. He only has to finish off the kitchen, WIP, study and entrance.

So far it looks awesome. I am looking forward to seeing them all finished and cleaned. I can't wait.

Carpentry Fit Off

I drove past the house this morning and noticed some working inside. When J went past later in the day he found that our carpentry fit off had been completed.

There are a few issues that we need to speak with our SS about, and one thing I am disappointed in, but all in all, very happy with it.

Plumbing and Electrical fit off complete

The electrical, air conditioning and plumbing fit off have been completed today.

Next week I believe our main floor tiling should commence, along with the carpentry fit off and the Tyrells Inspection.
